Even though I am a die-hard advocate for franchising and the tremendous advantages that it offers, I KNOW that Social Marketing NOW makes more sense...........
That's Right!!! After 25 plus years of being involved with MAJOR franchise companies, I believe that the "Information Age" has given Social Marketing a distinct advantage over the wildly popular Franchise Business model. Direct Sales via the internet, telephone, or face-to-face sharing of a product or service has a better chance of "Success" than the 1950's Franchisor/Franchisee plan.
Social Marketing has little-to-no overhead, limited liability, and very low start-up. This makes the dream of owning a business a reality to the masses. Also, this ease of entry is non-discriminatory based on gender, race, handicap, or religion. A person or couple can run a "Networking" business from their home and be active in a lifestyle that is positive to the family environment. Most traditional franchises require so many hours that parents are absentee participants in their children's daily lives as well as their spouse.
I challenge you to weigh the Pros and Cons of working a real business from home versus the major commitment of a Franchise to see if the Risk is Worth the Reward.
Also, Remember that "No Success in Life can compensate for Failure in the Home".

Is Franchising Right for You?
Wow! Franchising - the Dream of having your very own business....
Yes, Folks have been drawn to the incredible concept since the 1950's when franchising started becoming the predominate way for a person or family to have their "name brand" store front. In the mid 1980's, I started as a "franchisee" with a major store chain and had incredible success. The proven system was a definite plus, but unaffordable for the average family. During the 1990's, I began as a "franchisee" with an international car rental company. The liability, indebtedness, and incredibly long hours, don't make for a flexible lifestyle or a happy home life.
Yes, Franchising has gotten out of reach for most people. Corporations, along with separate management companies, have now gobbled up most notable franchises. In 2002, I bought a small chain of "franchised" smoothie bars with a great system, advertising campaign, and strong buying power. Once again, the challenge with owning a franchise is that you have purchased yourself a job with major liability and huge debt. Today, franchises have gotten away from their initial intent. The original purpose allowed a "mom and pop" operator to affordably buy into a system of duplication and purchasing power. The antiquated 60-year old concept of a franchise is being replaced by the Information Age and Social Marketing.......

Why Social Marketing?
I've been self-employed for 26 years, having owned multiple franchises. Over the next few weeks, I will explain why social marketing is better for developing a long-term residual income than the traditional small business model of a franchise.
